☕ Story: The Cracked Cup
داستان: فنجان ترکخورده
Every morning, my dad opened his small tea shop at the corner of the street.
هر صبح پدرم چایخانه کوچک خود را در گوشه خیابان باز میکرد.
It wasn’t a famous place
جای معروفی نبود.
No bright signs. No music. Just a wooden door, a few tables, and the quiet smell of fresh tea
نه تابلوی درخشان داشت، نه موسیقی. فقط یک در چوبی، چند میز، و بوی آرام چای تازه.
One rainy afternoon, a young man walked in.
یک بعدازظهر بارانی، جوانی وارد شد.
His shoulders were heavy, as if the day had already defeated him.
شانههایش سنگین بود، انگار روزش از قبل شکست خورده بود.
“Tea?” my dad asked.
پدرم پرسید: «چای؟»
The young man nodded and sat by the window.
جوان سر تکان داد و کنار پنجره نشست.
When the tea arrived, he noticed something.
وقتی چای را آوردند، جوان متوجه چیزی شد.
The cup had a small crack running down one side.
روی فنجان یک ترک کوچک بود.
He frowned. “Excuse me… this cup is cracked.”
اخم کرد و گفت: «ببخشید… این فنجان ترک دارد.»
My dad looked at it calmly.
پدرم آرام به آن نگاه کرد.
“Yes,” he said. “It is.”
گفت: «بله، دارد.»
The young man waited for him to replace it.
جوان منتظر بود فنجان عوض شود.
But my dad simply poured the tea.
اما پدرم فقط چای را داخل آن ریخت.
The young man watched carefully. The tea didn’t leak.
جوان با دقت نگاه کرد. چای بیرون نریخت.
“It still works,” my dad said.
پدرم گفت: «هنوز کار میکند.»
The young man shook his head. “But it’s broken.”
جوان سرش را تکان داد: «ولی شکسته است.»
My dad smiled slightly.
پدرم کمی لبخند زد.
“Many things are.”
گفت: «خیلی از چیزها همینطورند.»
He pulled another cup from the shelf—perfect, smooth, and shining.
بعد یک فنجان دیگر از قفسه برداشت—کاملاً سالم، صاف و براق.
“This one is perfect,” he said.
گفت: «این یکی بینقص است.»
Then he placed the cracked cup beside it.
بعد فنجان ترکخورده را کنار آن گذاشت.
“Which one do you think people use more?”
پرسید: «به نظرت مردم بیشتر کدام را استفاده میکنند؟»
The young man pointed at the perfect one.
جوان به فنجان سالم اشاره کرد.
My dad laughed softly.
پدرم آرام خندید.
“No.”
گفت: «نه.»
He lifted the cracked cup.
فنجان ترکخورده را بلند کرد.
“People choose this one. Because they know it’s been used for years. It survived heat, drops, and busy mornings.”
«مردم این را انتخاب میکنند. چون میدانند سالها استفاده شده. گرما، افتادن و صبحهای شلوغ را پشت سر گذاشته.»
He poured tea into both cups.
او در هر دو فنجان چای ریخت.
“Perfection looks nice on a shelf,” he said.
گفت: «کمال روی قفسه قشنگ به نظر میرسد.»
“But life happens in the imperfect ones.”
«اما زندگی در چیزهای ناقص اتفاق میافتد.»
The young man stared at the cracked line on the cup.
جوان به ترک روی فنجان نگاه کرد.
For the first time that day, he took a slow sip of tea.
برای اولین بار آن روز، جرعهای آرام از چای نوشید.
And it tasted just fine.
و طعمش کاملاً خوب بود.
